A guard with 1st Marine Corps District checks her score at Mitchel Field Shooting Complex after firing the M9A1 pistol on May 28. “They need to know how to apply deadly force with a weapon when necessary with threats we face on a day-to-day basis,” said Gunnery Sergeant William Neimi, guard chief of 1st Marine Corps District. The guards use the M9A1 pistol, Benelli M104 shotgun, and M16-A4 service rifle as their trained weapons.
