NEW YORK— Col. Stephen Liszewski cuts a piece of cake for the oldest and youngest Marines present during the Marine Corps birthday celebration at the Council of Foreign Relations Nov. 6. “Today, we’re observing a tradition that the Marines celebrate every year regardless of where they are in any fox hole or garrison setting, in any clime or place,” said Gui Wyser-Pratte, the oldest Marine present. Liszewski is the the U.S. Marine Corps military fellow to the Council on Foreign Relations. Cpl. Teodoro Elizondo III, right, was the youngest Marine present.
