Sgt. Jose Murillo, (right) defends a goal during a leadership seminar at Danvers High School Sept. 18, 2014. The seminars conducted by Marine Corps Recruiting Station Portsmouth, N.H. are a part of an initiative to spread the word about Marine Corps leadership in an attempt to mentor young high school and college students across New England. Murillo moved to Waltham, Massachusetts from Bolivia. “The one thing I told my mother growing up is that one day I will take care of you,” Murillo said about his mother’s decision to move her family to the states after a tough stretch in Bolivia. Since arriving on recruiting duty in August 2013 Murillo has done just that by having his mother, Maria, move in with him.
