First Lieutenant David Leapheart, a native from Midland, Mich., speaks to the attendees, faculty and his fellow graduates as the student speaker, of which he was nominated for by his peers, during the New York University School of Law Convocation at Madison Square Garden on 22 May. Leapheart was commissioned as a second lieutentant in the Marine Corps after completing ten weeks of rigorous training at Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Va., just weeks before he began studying law at NYU.
