Gunnery Sgt. Dean McCown, the 1st Marine Corps District’s data chief, runs ahead of the formation to clear a path for the Marines to run through during the Tunnel to Towers run in Manhattan Sept. 29. Tunnel to Towers, a 5-kilometer run, is held annually in honor of firefighter Stephen Siller. Siller, who ran to the World Trade Center through the Battery Tunnel with all his gear on during the attacks on 9/11, ultimately lost his life during his attempt to save others.
