Col. J. J. Dill, the commanding officer of the 1st Marine Corps District, speaks to the young men who attended the 68th session of the American Legion Jersey Boys’ State during their final assembly at Rider University on June 21. The mission of the program is to educate the youth in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship. “I look at your generation and all I think of is my tours in combat,” said Dill. “Those Marines under my command preformed every day and they are your peers –members of your generation– and my view of your generation is not pop culture; my view of your generation is you are the greatest generation our country has yet to produce and I thank you for being here.”
