Major Roberts is a native of Anchorage, Alaska, and grew up in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania. He enlisted as an Infantryman in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard on 7 December 2006, before accepting a commission as an Infantry Officer in May 2010. First Lieutenant Roberts completed a deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from November 2012 to September 2013, where he served as a Mobile Reaction Force Platoon Leader for the CENTCOM Area of Operations.
First Lieutenant Roberts conducted an interservice transfer to the Marine Corps, completed Officer Candidates School, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on 19 November 2016. He graduated from The Basic School in June 2016 where he was career designated after graduating 9th in the class. After completing The Basic School, he was sent to Pensacola as a Flight Student, however, was medically disqualified from flight and redesignated as a Combat Engineer.
In January 2018, Second Lieutenant Roberts was assigned to 2d Combat Engineer Battalion before attending Combat Engineer Officer Course at Marine Corps Engineer School, graduating in July 2018 as both the Academic Honor Graduate and the Colonel Gerald B. Cornwall Leadership Award recipient. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Engineer Support Company as a Detachment Executive Officer for Trident Juncture 18 in Norway, from October to November 2018. Returning to 2d CEB, he was assigned as Platoon Commander, 1st Platoon, Company B, where he participated ITX 1-20 and MWX and deployed with V16 as the FDB-E on UDP 20.1, from January to July 2020. In June 2020, he served as the Engineer Platoon Commander and Operations OIC for Fuji Viper.
In September 2020, First Lieutenant Roberts reported to TECOM where he served as an Action Officer in the G-3. In February 2022, he was reassigned to the TECOM Headquarters, serving as the TECOM Staff Secretary. In July 2023, Captain Roberts reported to resident Expeditionary Warfare School.
Following completion of Expeditionary Warfare School in May 2024, Captain Roberts received orders to 7th Engineer Support Battalion where he served as a Company Commander. Upon being selected for Major, he was reassigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 13 in February 2025, where he served as the Operations Officer.
Major Roberts attended The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Third Award, the Army Achievement Medal Second Award, and the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal Third Award. He is married to Emily Popson and they have two daughters, Roman and Callan.
Major Roberts currently serves as the Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station Albany, New York. He has performed in this capacity since July of 2026.
