Sergeant Major Brian A. Bruyere

Sergeant Major Bruyere was born in and raised in Western, New York and enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 1991. He attended
recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Following the completion of recruit training he reported
to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for Marine Combat Training and Motor Transport Diesel Mechanics Course and was promoted to
Private First Class.
Following the completion of his training, Sergeant Major Bruyere went on to serve in three different Fleet Marine Forces units in
Okinawa, Japan, 29 Palms, CA and Camp Lejeune, NC from June 1992, through April 1999 and achieved the rank of Sergeant in
December 1995. During this time he participated in several field and training exercises, attended advanced diesel mechanics training
and deployed to Al Jubal, Saudi Arabia in support of operation Operation Vigilant Warrior. In April 1999, after serving nearly eight
years of active duty service he was Honorably Discharged.
In November 2008, Sergeant Major Bruyere reenlisted in the United States Marine Corps and returned to active duty as a Military
Police Officer. In December 2008, he received orders to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North
Carolin and was assigned as a Patrolman for the Provost Marshalls Office. In November 2009, he was reassigned to Watch Commander
at Marine Corps Air Station, New River, North Carolina. In September 2010 he took part in an Individual Augment Billet and deployed
to Kabul, Afghanistan where he was assigned to North Atlantic Treaty Organization Training Mission Afghanistan, Headquarters
Company where he served as a Vehicle Commander and Gunner. In February 2011, he returned from his deployment and resumed
duties as Watch Commander. In April 2012, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In August 2012, he transferred to Headquarters Service Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Smedley D. Butler, Okinawa, Japan and was
assigned to the Provost Marshalls Office, Military Police District North where he served as a Watch Commander.
In August 2013, he transferred to Headquarters Marine Forces Command, Norfolk, Virginia and was assigned to the Command
Operation Center where he served as a Senior Watch Officer and Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Command
Operations Center.
In April 2016, he reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina for Drill Instructor School and in July 2016,
reported to Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina for duty where
he served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In November 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. In
January 2018, he was transferred to Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Chief Drill Instructor. In
December 2018 he transferred to Support Battalion, Special Training Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South
Carolina where he served as the Company First Sergeant until July 2019.
In August 2019, he was transferred to the Provost Marshal's Office Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp
Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as an Operations Chief until June 2020, when he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.
In June 2020, he was transferred to 2d Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division and assumed the duties as the Golf
Company First Sergeant where he served from June 2020 to January 2023. While serving as the Golf Company First Sergeant, he
deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Kearsarge from March to October 2022. In January 2023, First he
transferred to Headquarters and Service Company serving as the Company First Sergeant until his promotion to the rank of Sergeant
Major in April 2024.
In June 2024, Sergeant Major Bruyere was transferred to Recruiting Station New York, 1st Marine Corps District and assumed the
duties as the Recruiting Station New York Sergeant Major in July 2024 where he is currently serving.
Sergeant Major Bruyere's personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation
Medal with three gold stars in lieu of fourth award, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star in lieu of
second award.
