Major Steele is a Houston, Texas native and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Philosophy. He began his career in the Marine Corps in January 2006 when he reported to recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA. Upon graduation from recruit training, Marine Combat Training Battalion, and Marine Corps Combat Service Support School, he earned the military occupational specialty of Administrative Clerk (0151).
While enlisted, he served as Company Clerk with H&S Co, 3/23 Marines in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2007 – 2008. He was commissioned in December 2010 via the Officer Candidate Course Reserve (OCC-R) program.
As a company grade officer, his operational and supporting establishment assignments included Current Operations Officer, Contracting Officer Representative, and Combat Service Support Platoon Commander with 1st Marine Expeditionary Forces / 1st Marine Headquarters Group in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, 2011 – 2012; Company Executive Officer and Battalion Motor Transport Officer with H&S Co, 1/23 Marines; Recruiting Support Officer with 8th Marine Corps District and LOGZ Platoon Commander with 14th Marines Regiment.
As a field grade Officer, his operational, supporting establishment and joint assignments include Regimental Assistant Logistics Officer with 14th Marines Regiment; Culture & Inclusion Action Officer with Manpower & Reserve Affairs; Capabilities and Requirements Officer with 4th Marine Logistics Group G-3/5; Joint Logistics Operations Center (JLOC) Chief with CENTCOM Combined Joint Task Force in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, 2024 and Logistics Plans Officer with 4th Marine Logistics Group G-3/5.
Maj Steele is a graduate of the Logistics Officers' Course; Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program and holds a Masters of Management degree from the University of Phoenix and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston.
In addition to his military service, Major Steele brings over 15 years of leadership experience in civilian and nonprofit sectors, including managing large teams for United Way of Greater Houston, directing process improvement efforts for Anheuser-Bush, and overseeing residential new construction operations for Perry Homes.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
