PITTSBURGH--Sgt. Kemmala S. Kelsey reflects on her path in life that led her to become one of the “Few and The Proud,” at Recruiting Substation Pittsburgh, March 17. “Initially, I was overweight and I couldn’t enlist,” said Kelsey, a supply clerk with Recruiting Station Pittsburgh. “I took that as a personal challenge. So I said to myself, I’m going to lose this weight and I’m going to show the recruiters that I can do this.” Kelsey, who lost the weight, had recently relocated from Jamaica to Chicago. She would eventually join the Marines and travel to Japan, Guam and Spain. - PITTSBURGH--Sgt. Kemmala S.
