The event brought together the top 52 teams to compete at Springfield, Massachusetts, Jan. 15. The 52 team tournament will run through Jan. 19 and will conclude with a championship game.

Marshall was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis only eight months after birth, a disease that hardens mucus in the chest and leads to troubled breathing and infection. Marshall requires daily treatment for her condition, yet drives herself to live a normal life and uses sports as a therapeutic outlet.
