Major Patrick L. McConnell

Major Patrick McConnell was born on November 19, 1984, in Denver, CO.  He enlisted in Illinois in 2003 and served as an 0311 and 8152 as part of the Marine Security Company United States Naval Academy. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in May 2011 after graduating from the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis MD. In June 2011, he reported to the Basic School, Quantico, VA and graduated with Fox Company Basic Officer Course 6-11. Upon completing Infantry Officer Course 3-12, he was assigned the 0302 MOS and reported to 2d Battalion, 6th Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Major McConnell served as the platoon commander of the 81mm Mortar Platoon, Weapons Company and deployed as part of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa Japan from July 2013 to February 2014. Upon returning from deployment, Major McConnell was moved to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines and served as the Executive Officer, Headquarters and Service Company from March 2014 to August 2015. During this time, he deployed as part of Battalion Landing Team 3/6 in support of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

In September 2015, Major McConnell reported to Marine Barracks, Washington D.C. There he served as a platoon and Company Commander, Company A from September 2015 to November 2017. Following his Company Command, he served as the Presidential Support Program Manager and Executive Officer, Guard Company from November 2017 to June 2018.  

Major McConnell was selected to attend Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA beginning July 2018 and graduated in May 2019. Upon graduation, he reported to 3d Battalion, 4th Marines in Twentynine Palms, CA.

While with 3d Battalion 4th Marines, Major McConnell served as the Lima Company Commander May – December 2019 and Weapons Company Commander from January 2020 to May 2021 deploying in support of the 31st MEU. Major McConnell then became the Operations Officer from May 2021 to May 2023, deploying as part of the Unit Deployment Program 23.1

In June of 2023, Major McConnell executed orders to his current duty station at Recruiting Station Pittsburgh, 1st Marine Corps District to serve as the Recruiting Station Commanding Officer. 

Major McConnell’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with two gold stars in lieu of third award).
