Robert Corazzini rappels down the 60-foot training tower during the Recruiting Station Portsmouth Educator’s Workshop aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, Feb. 24. The Educator’s Workshop is a weeklong snapshot of Marine Corps recruit training for high school- or post school- teachers and advisors, designed to “educate the educators” and community influencers about the opportunities and benefits the Marine Corps offers to young men and women. Attendees view a culmination of major recruit training events while also learning through hands-on experiences and speak one-on-one with a variety of Marines across a span of occupations. The goal of the workshop is to address any misconceptions about enlistment and focus on what is oftentimes not considered when thinking about military service, such as continuing education opportunities and professional skills development. Corazzini is a physical education teacher with Assabet Regional Technical High School in Massachusetts.
