With family, friends and Marines alike in attendance, Sgt. Maj. Robert J. Murano rendered his final salute after 25 years of honorable service in the United States Marine Corps. Murano grew up in Milo, Maine, and graduated from Penquis Valley High School in 1988 and has now been placed on the ‘retired list.’ Murano completed various successful tours throughout his career, but perhaps most notably, tours as a drill instructor and a recruiter before taking the reins in May 2010 as the sergeant major of Recruiting Station Portsmouth, 1st Marine Corps District.
