Major Zachary J. Pagan

Major Pagan currently serves as the Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station Albany, New York. He has performed in this capacity since June of 2020.

A native of California, Zachary Pagan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 2007 while enrolled in college at California State University Sacramento. Private First Class Pagan completed Recruit Training and reported to Echo Company 2d Battalion 23rd Marines in San Bruno, California as a 0331 Machine Gunner.  Lance Corporal Pagan attended Officer Candidate School and was subsequently commissioned a Second Lieutenant in August of 2008. After completion of Basic Officer Course in 2009, Second Lieutenant Pagan was designated as a 3002 Supply Officer and attended Ground Supply Officer Course.

Second Lieutenant Pagan was assigned as the Battalion Supply Officer for 3d Battalion 4th Marines aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, 29 Palms. Major Pagan conducted pre-deployment training and executed two combat deployments to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; 2009-2010 with Regimental Combat Team 7 in Operational Box Tripoli and 2010-2011 with Regimental Combat Team 8 in Operational Box Burma.

First Lieutenant Pagan was then assigned to Marine Corps Logistics Command in Albany, Georgia and served as Retrograde and Redeployment Operations Officer, Aide de Camp to the Commanding General, Branch Manager for the Inventory Planning and Analysis Branch, and Director of Enterprise Asset Planning Division. Captain Pagan deployed to Afghanistan with Marine Corps Logistics Command (Forward) to serve as the Assistant Operations Officer from 2013 to 2014. He facilitated the retrograde and redeployment of all Marine Corps equipment from Operation Enduring Freedom back to depot maintenance commands in the continental United States.

Captain Pagan was selected by the Commandant’s Career Level Education Board to attend Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia from 2015 to 2016.

Captain Pagan was subsequently assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 15 and served as the Regimental Supply Officer and Headquarters Company Commander. Captain Pagan was selected to serve as the Executive Officer of the Logistics Combat Element (LCE) for Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command (SPMAGTF-CR-CC) and composited, trained, and deployed a Combat Logistics Detachment to Al Jaber, Kuwait in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon his return from deployment, Major Pagan served as the Operations Officer for 1st Maintenance Battalion from May 2018 to May 2019 and Regimental Operations Officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 15 from 2019 to 2020.

Major Pagan’s civilian education includes a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California State University Sacramento and a Master’s of Arts degree in Leadership Studies from Marshall University Graduate College.

Major Pagan’s military education includes Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education (with distinction), Expeditionary Warfare School Resident, Command and Staff College Distance Education (with distinction), Maritime Prepositioning Force Staff Planner Course, and Intermediate Marine Air Ground Task Force Logistics Officer Course.

Major Pagan’s military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (gold star in lieu of second award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold start in lieu of third award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
