Sergeant Major Alexander Karasik

Sergeant Major Karasik was born in Gomel, Belarus and raised in Queens, New York. He enlisted on 9 April 2001. He graduated 5 July 2001 from MCRD, Parris Island, SC. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, NC and attained the primary MOS of 0341, Infantry Mortarman. 
 
September 2001, Sergeant Major Karasik was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines, Weapons Company, 81's Platoon. He deployed on a Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa, Japan with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and was meritoriously promoted to Corporal. Upon completion of his second deployment, he requested the opportunity to serve as a Marine Security Guard. 
 
January 2004, Sergeant Major Karasik attended Marine Security Guard School. He was subsequently assigned to American Embassy Lisbon, Portugal where he was promoted to Sergeant. He then received six-month TAD orders to the Provisional Detachment Baghdad, Iraq where he served as the React/CBRN Noncommissioned Officer. Upon completion of the TAD, Sergeant Major Karasik received his last 18-month post assignment to American Consulate, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, serving as the Assistant Detachment Commander. 
 
June 2007, Sergeant Major Karasik received orders to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines and assigned to Golf Company. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and served as a 60mm Mortar Section Leader and Platoon Sergeant for 3rd Platoon. He deployed with the 31st MEU and the 11th MEU. 
 
July 2010, Sergeant Major Karasik was assigned to Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific (EWTGPAC), Amphibious Raids Branch. Sergeant Major Karasik served as safety swimmer, instructor for Coxswain Course, and Chief Instructor for Maritime Navigation Course. 
 
August 2013, Sergeant Major Karasik was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, Alpha Company and H&S Company. Sergeant Major Karasik served as a Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander, Assistant Operations Chief, and Battalion Operations Chief. July 2015, he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. He deployed on a UDP to Okinawa, Japan and part of 
the Black Sea Rotational Force (BSRF) to Mihail Kogalniceanu, Romania.
 
November 2016, Sergeant Major Karasik received orders to II MEF, Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG) as the Amphibious Raids Branch SNCOIC and Ropes and Recovery Branch SNCOIC. In addition to SNCOIC duties, he instructed Helicopter Rope Suspension Course, Fast Rope Master Course, Assault Climber Course, and multiple courses dealing with rope mastery. He was promoted to First Sergeant. 
 
April 2019, Sergeant Major Karasik received the unique opportunity to serve as the Region First Sergeant for Region 1 (Eastern Europe, Eurasia, and Central Asia), Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG). He was frocked to Sergeant Major in June 2023.
 
Sergeant Major Karasik is currently serving at Recruiting Station New Jersey as the Recruiting Station Sergeant Major. 
 
Sergeant Major Karasik is fluent in the Russian and Portuguese languages and his awards include Navy and Marine Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of third award and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 gold star in lieu of second award.
